IDEA's intervention in the sustainable endogenous development of the tribals have yielded several successful qualitative and quantitative results in the tribal communities.

IDEA's intervention in the field of eco and watershed development programmes, for the tribals of Koraput – Orissa through its various previous and ongoing projects, have improved the following –
* Improved the technical and management skills of tribal farmers and youth on eco-development planning and watershed management and the concepts of sustainable development approaches.
* Protection of forest and environment in 2.5 lakhs acres in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa state by stopping shifting cultivation. Thereby - contribution to reduce the effect on global warming.
* Afforestation programmes with natural forest species in about 1.25 lakhs acres of abandoned shifting cultivation patches and wastelands.
* Control of siltation in down streams and hydro electrical power generation reservoirs.
*

Revival of indigenous agro-eco-cultural practices and knowledge systems for endogenous development.

* Farmers experimentation and innovation skills for sustainable eco-agricultural development improved.
* Improvement in agro-ecological situation and improvement of tribal women economy, health and nutritional status and socio-cultural identity.
* Control of watershed problems. (soil erosion, land degradation etc.,)
* Improvement of food security situation and increase of agricultural yields

*

Decreasing of rate of seasonal migration of tribals.
* Promotion of need based sustainable endogenous development networks of tribal farmers and traditional institutional functionaries.
Achievements related to endogenous development

Indigenous knowledge resource conservation and research activities:

      1

Established one indigenous knowledge research and conservation (IKRC) division at institutional level at E.M.R.T.D.C – IDEA, Araku village. And 4 farmers research stations in the tribal villages to conduct experimentations on traditional agro-ecological and health practices by the tribal farmers.
