ONGOING PROJECTS
Project – I: Agro-eco-cultural
Development Project (A.E.D.P / COMPAS Phase – III)
Goals:
•
To further
enhance endogenous development in the region by supporting the tribal
and rural communities in their efforts in further documentations,
experimentations and revival of their indigenous knowledge systems,
worldviews and institutions
The main
objectives:
•
To further consolidate the efforts of documentation, analysis,
preparation of educational material and revival of tribal and rural
indigenous eco-agri-cultural and health practices, knowledge systems
and related customary practices and to conduct and extend support to
farmers for experimentations with the thrust on the specific
programmes.
•
To further strengthen and promote
dormitory education to tribal youth (Men and women) on
agro-ecological and health practices and other sustainable
development oriented activities.
•
To further
strengthen tribal traditional institutional networks and extend
support for necessary promotional activities.
•
To further strengthen IDEA's indigenous
knowledge resource conservation centre and its units for indigenous
knowledge resource conservation research, documentation and
publication of the results of documentation and experimentations.
Besides, the strengthening of demonstration and training programmes,
development interaction and natural resource conservation services ( DINARCS )
division and to initiate village level farmers research stations
(F.R.S.)
•
To further
strengthen coalition activities by target groups and IDEA and COMPAS
partners and other NGO’s and research organisations for cross
cultural and inter cultural dialogues, exchange of information and
knowledge systems on endogenous development.
Programmes
:
1. Development action research, documentation and preparation of
educational material.
2. Experimentations and revival programmes.
3. Development interaction and
natural resource conservation programmes.
Target
population and area :
• Tribals
and rural communities in the North Eastern Ghats covering Andhra
Pradesh and Orissa.
